W. P. Reed of Reed Sheet Metalworks and Frank Barton of Barton Brothers grocery were seriously hurt when their light coupe collided with a heavy sedan driven by W. F. Beck told on the Dal Mart road north of Amarillo. Reed and Barton were en route to Colorado. Beck told and his son were uninjured. Both cars destroyed. Both injured men rushed to St. Anthony's hospital. doctors hope for recovery as of last night. No charges filed. Accident occurred about 4 am near Booster filling station.

Special to The News McLean July 4. Suit to cancel the engineering contract on Highway 66 in Gray County Road District No. 4 alleges the commissioners approved excessive fees. Plaintiffs John Carpenter and others, represented by A. A. Ledbetter and Reynolds & Hare, name engineer C. L. Hasie of Memphis Texas. Hasie received two and a half percent of construction costs plus 290 dollars per mile for 16 miles of the Main Street of America through Gray county. The contract was let November 1927 and amended March 1928 with further fees claimed excessive.
