The Labor Department ordered a federal conciliator to copper camps in Arizona to help settle a strike. The move aims to resolve labor disputes affecting mining operations and worker conditions.
The Labor Department announced the appointment of J. S. Myers and John McBride as federal conciliators to meet with mine operators and workers in Arizona. Officials said the two were sent from Texas and Utah two days earlier, and denied that former Governor Hunt was appointed, calling the claim unnecessary.
The Metal Mine Workers branch informed Governor Campbell at 5 pm they will not return to work in the Globe Miami copper district until their demands are granted by major copper companies.
