The community plans a free Independence Day program at Amarillo Air Base featuring The Minute Men jet team performing about 14 flyovers, a patriotic concert by the Shepard Air Force Base band, and a 45 minute fireworks show by Burnett Fireworks. Police brace for heavy Fourth of July traffic
Texas Highway Patrol Potter County Sheriff's Department and Amarillo Police join Globe News Publishing Company to enforce no parking around Pullman Switch Road and air base approaches during The Minute Men show at 2 p.m. and at Amarillo Stadium for the 7:15 p.m. program and 8:45 p.m. fireworks. Four Killed In Collision Near Keyes
A late night car truck crash on a country road near Keyes, Oklahoma, killed three small children and their mother. Mary Ruth Grabeal, age 3, and Joel Grabeal, age 1, were dead on arrival at Guymon Memorial Hospital along with Mrs Eldon Grabeal. A 12-year-old girl sustained serious injuries.
