Amid harvest pre holiday turmoil bank clearings doubled as violence and unrest took a toll. The Aryes Senate group refused to reduce vetoed finance bills while the house sat with no quorum for the new session. Senate members claim a quorum is on hand.
The Texas Senate finance committee refused to cut three of five major vetoed bills, adding 162 500 to the 16 496 545 educational bill for Tarleton College and East Texas Teachers College. The judiciary and eleemosynary bills face full funding, while the departmental bill may be reduced. The House lacked a quorum but will reconvene with 21 senators present, aiming to advance the bills favored by committee.
In Killingsworth Texas on December 8 Ike Page was shot dead. Wiley Page age 28 a farmer faced murder charges and was acquitted after a one hour jury deliberation. Page claimed self defense and thanked every juror after the verdict.
Weather map shows high pressure centered over Kentucky with a trough from Arizona to North Dakota. Tonight and Thursday look fair and warmer for Amarillo and West Texas, with generally fair conditions across New Mexico and the northern Plains.
Special to The News reports H. G. Nails, farmer near Childress, released on $2,000 bond after being charged with murder in the fatal shooting of his brother in law W. Watkins, 36, who lived on a farm three miles southwest of Childress. The case arose from a family quarrel Monday night.

John Truscott feared fatally injured after a St Francis crash.
Renewed eruptions of Marum on the Ambrym island drive natives and whites toward Malejula, 30 miles away, as wireless reports fail to confirm safety of three mission staffs. one mission staff is reported safe. Ten whites and about 200 natives were on Ambrym before last Friday's eruption.
Col Charles A Lindbergh landed at Amarillo municipal airport with Mrs Lindbergh while crowds awaited his arrival.
