Hereford Boy Hero At Swimming Pool Rescue
An 11 year old Hereford boy Lenwood Hallam rescued 15 year old Maxine Osborn from Tierra Blanca Creek near Hereford after she and Evangeline Hicks fell into a deep hole. Hallam dived in to save Maxine then entered the water again to pull out Mrs. Osborn who had rushed in clothed to aid her daughter.

Missing insurer tells of kidnapping and assault near Houston
W. J. Carter a 53 year old insurance salesman missing since Friday surfaced at a Negro family's home sixteen miles from Houston claiming he was kidnapped. He said his captors wounded his leg robbed him and left him to bleed to death then progressed to another house where he received food and water. Deputies rushed him to a Houston hospital after he had lost about twenty pounds. Carter gave a statement to Investigator Leon Lusk detailing his ordeal before the report continued on page seven.

The Jimmie Mattern rescue party led by Bill Alexander repaired landing gear after a five hour stay in Duluth and departed at 3 PM for Winnipeg. The crew, including Alexander and three others, heads toward Alaska and Siberia to locate Mattern who disappeared during a round the world flight. The aircraft arrived from Marshfield at 10 AM and gear issues caused the delay.
