At a national conference in Salt Lake City governors denounced Hawes-Cooper act as federal overreach and unconstitutional. Connecticut's John H. Trumbull urged a general conference of states, while New York's Franklin D. Roosevelt warned of disruption to prison systems and possible court challenges. West Texas leaders urged Clint Small for Texas governor as the meeting aired on KGKL.
The House voted 272 to 41 to restore a 250000 appropriation and 88000 in unexpended funds for the Hoover Commission on law enforcement for a second year.
