In New Orleans, cotton prices rose about $1 per bale as brisk buying supported by securities rally, strong sales of cotton goods and favorable overseas advice. The close showed gains of $1.10 to $1.15 per bale with a rumor of a southern cotton official predicting several million bales planted.
