Senate holds a night session to push closing actions as indications point to a session ending by Saturday. Unclear agenda items include final votes and procedural steps as lawmakers respond to mounting deadlines.
In Washington the second deficiency appropriation rose from 45 million to 51 million as the Senate approved amendments and sent the measure to conference. Leaders planned to adjourn Saturday with the bill awaiting presidential action, while the House avoided a night session due to limited pending business.
Pawhuska Okla July 1 The cases against E Snyder and Charles Johnson charged with conspiracy to bribe a juror in the Ernest Burkhart case were dismissed for lack of prosecution. Burkhart near three weeks into trial pled June 9 to killing Fairfax rancher W J Smith and received a life sentence. The Osage murder cases stem from a plot to kill wealthy Osage Indians for their oil wealth with Hale and Ramsey awaiting trial as alleged conspirators.
Judge A P Miller resigned as Corporation judge in Amarillo effective immediately and becomes night desk sergeant. KB A McKinnon, who served as corporation judge from 1919 to 1924, succeeds Miller and resumes the judgeship yesterday afternoon. Miller was a longtime Amarillo and Potter County figure amid the city’s boom.
The News and Globe announce a reduced comb ination rate of 1 a month for paid in advance city subscribers. The News costs 70 cents and The Globe 65 cents per month separately. In San Antonio on July 1 1932 charges of swindling were filed in county court against Mrs. K M Johnston a candidate for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination. Two affidavits state checks she gave were returned unpaid and warrants issued for Mrs K Miller and Mrs K M Johnston could not be served as she reportedly was in the lower Rio Grande Valley.
Houston attorney Henry Kahn will represent Charles Ponzi in his extradition battle as Massachusetts seeks to return him from Texas. Governor of Massachusetts has not yet filed a requisition and Miriam Ferguson says she will approve formal proceedings after official submission and hold a hearing with both sides before deciding.
The Light Company intends to spend about a million dollars on plant improvements including a hi line to Pampa serving Pampa White Deer and Panhandle. Estimated cost for the Pampa link is 130000 with most right of way obtained. Construction will begin soon aided by purchased materials and equipment.
An extra forty cattle bring total to five carloads for the July 3 4 Round-Up at Tri-State fair grounds Amarillo. Cowboys from Texas New Mexico Wyoming Montana and Colorado arrive daily to perform with famed riders reapers and bulldozers including Pinkie Samples Chickasha Ruby Detrich Ethel DeArman Earl Riley Six Harrison Tack Hodson Clay Neval and De Witt Reynolds. Tickets on sale Ledbetter Drug Store towns near Amarillo reserve hundreds. prizes total thousands. Judges include DeWitt Reynolds Clark Hoge and a third yet unnamed.

In Shreveport three men named Jones Callahan Groesbeck Tex Jimmie Walker Nava sota Tex and Louis Wall Waco Tex were charged with robbery after a $100 store heist identified by grocer John Moosy. Two suspects are one legged with peg and cork legs. detectives say they may be ex convicts wanted in multiple states.
Atchison Kansas recalls the 1804 Lewis and Clark expedition marking the first July Fourth in the Kansas area. The party started the Missouri River voyage May 10 and reached near Kansas City on June 26 before naming a creek Fourth of July and crossing to Independence Creek in a holiday mood.

Nye telegraphed his office to announce a large victory in the North Dakota senatorial race He carried Richland Ransom Sargent Trail Steele and other counties in the first district signaling a partial turnover that cements his win according to the Associated Press report from Washington dated July 1.
