Del Rio Texas says the city recouped 504000 dollars invested August 27 1954 to buy the international bridge across the Rio Grande. Bridge manager H M Monzingo reported Tuesday that gross receipts have returned the money within three years and four months.

Detectives report a smooth talking man posing as a Jaycees representative and radio worker cashed small checks from Jan 21 to 24 in Amarillo. He used aliases Dr. R J Lyons and Bob Lyons of Dallas and moved through a hotel, motel, chain store, gas station, garage and two banks. About 200 dollars in checks bounced by Tuesday afternoon with more expected.

Marine of the Month honors leader of Death March
At Cherry Point North Carolina the all weather Fighter Squadron 114 named Pfc Matthew C. McKeon January’s Marine of the Month. McKeon was court martialed for negligent homicide in the 1956 Parris Island death march of six recruits and remains in the corps. He joined the squadron last November and was praised for proficiency conduct and bearing. He testified about his role in the march and vowed to regain his Marine standing.
