A nimble straw-haired boy about seven or eight walks the curb with two bottles. He tosses one under a car, shatters it, and remains unfazed. The writer notes the incident and the boy’s innocent detachment as they drive away, glimpsing him tossing another bottle later.
More than 100 workers walked out paralyzing the Shamrock Oil & Gas McKee Gasoline Plant five miles southwest of Sunray. Company says about 100 involved while workers estimate 170. about 200 off the job after a fire and discharge of an employee.

Amarillo police linked Oscar J. Coy and Jeri Beckwith to a $79.10 robbery at Club Package Store on North Fast Elghth. Coy, a Yellow Cab driver, allegedly drove the getaway taxi. Beckwith is charged in a separate early Thursday truck stop robbery. Both held in Potter County jail awaiting arraignment. Police anticipate more arrests as investigators pursue leads.
At yesterday's luncheon the YWCA Building Fund Campaign reported 151,486 dollars on hand of a 600,000 goal after audit corrections. Totals show General Gifts women 14,323 of 60,000. men 2,513 of 40,000. Advance Gifts 134,650 of 500,000. Women’s section leader Miss Annie McDonald noted only 187 calls completed of several thousand planned.
A thief stole a 15 inch decorative crystal ball from the yard at 2106 Hughes, Mrs W P Frost's residence. Mrs Prose laments wishing she could have seen the future to prevent the theft. The incident reads like a quirky note from a past column about luck and misfortune.
Cairo reports Egypt will break relations with Britain after Suez Canal zone fighting. Al Misri says cabinet decided last night as casualty toll climbs to 46 dead and 73 wounded for Egyptians, with British losses reportedly four killed and nine wounded.
Guy Maxwell Chisolm Sr a 60 year old public accountant died at Northwest Texas Hospital after a stroke at 10 oclock last night. He was admitted ten days earlier for an eye condition and was unconscious under oxygen. Born June 1 1891 in Anniston Alabama he lived in Amarillo since 1926 and belonged to St Andrews Episcopal Church. Surviving are his wife. Continued on Page 19.
The Potter County grand jury waits until 9:30 this morning to learn if it will stay in session or adjourn and be succeeded by another jury. Judge Henry Bishop had been expected to rule yesterday on extending the session but asked for more time to decide. The jurors had requested continuation under House Bill No 352 to finish an Amarillo marijuana traf fic investigation.
Amarillo residents including Mrs. Bessie Bridges and Zenas H. Cook appear on a nationwide list of about 40 000 Texans eligible for income tax refunds totaling nearly three and a half million dollars The refunds cover overpaid taxes dating back to 1944 with many individuals due at least 100 dollars Each refund amount is limited from publication by federal law

R R Baker describes being crushed under brick and mortar when a cave in at Amarillo National Bank building trapped him and a partner for 25 minutes. The other victim, WoW Reant, 28, suffered severe injuries. Baker is listed in serious condition after surgery and sedation.
