A 16 year old boy named Lord Hershel Pierce of Malta Texas confessed to shooting 72 year old Mrs George Coleman in her home near New Boston Bowie County The admission came from District Attorney Maxwell Welch who said the youth described an uncontrollable urge to kill and a plan executed Monday evening. Pierce was jailed in Boston Texas as authorities consider a murder charge and disposition of the case. He is the son of Ruby Cunningham of Malta and Bob Pierce of Friona.

Amarillo attorney Wales Madden 54, unconscious and in critical condition at St. Anthony's Hospital after a severe stroke at his home on Ong Street. His son Wales Jr. from the University of Texas was due to arrive, with his sister and brother-in-law from Pawhuska, as Madden has a history of prior strokes and is a member of the law firm Adkins Madden Folley Adkins.

Bills drawn by the budget board seek funds for departments courts colleges hospitals and special schools trimming agency operations clogging the session as lawmakers push to finish within ten days and rework Veterans Affairs with the Veterans Land Board and State Approval Agency.
Amarillo businessmen seek NPA forms from the Dallas regional office after Rex Baxter of the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce said the current commercial building freeze will end after February 15. Baxter also plans talks at Scott AFB about Amarillo Base reactivation and new housing for servicemen, meeting Maj. Gen. Robert W. Harper and others.

Price Director DiSalle says the order may come soon and could be followed by a rollback to early January levels. Nickel use is banned in auto trim and hundreds of civilian goods. nickel plating starts March 1 and stainless steel products April 1.

San Antonio police search for a messenger and a youth after two million dollars of non negotiable city bonds were handed to the wrong person. City Clerk J Frank Gallagher reported two thousand gas and electric bonds valued at two million dollars missing following a mistaken identity incident yesterday.
