Plainview Air Crash Injures Two Near Plainview
Two Anson men were injured when their light plane crashed during takeoff from a wheat field 18 miles northeast of Plainview. Weldon Smith, 31, suffered serious head and facial injuries and a broken jaw, while 21-year-old N J Parkinson, the pilot, sustained cuts and bruises. The left wing detached at about 50 feet. W C Clark, a local farmer, pulled them from the wreckage and helped move them to Plainview Hospital.

The Texas Highway 66 Association joined New Mexico and Arizona units to plan a seven state organization to push a four lane concrete highway from Chicago to Los Angeles. Lost Plane Found After Jungle Landing In Colombia
A DC-3 airliner with 17 aboard including three Americans was found in the Magdalena River basin near Barranca Bermeja. Pilot Giasford Pittman, 36, of Los Nietos California, and passengers Paul H. Boots of Gulf Oil Colombia and A. K. Dasy were among the occupants. All are reported unharmed. Avianca Air Line officials confirmed the landing and recovery on January 24.

District Attorney James G. Lumpkin of the 47th Judicial District is appointed to Amarillo based Seventh Court of Civil Appeals by Governor Jester. He will replace Judge William Q. Ed Mays of Leslie Arkansas led a 49 head Anxiety Hereford Breeders sale drawing a $42,260 total. The top bull Advance Lamplighter 2nd sold for $3,250, with Tierra Blanca herd offering Captain Lamplighter at $3,225 and Blanche Mischief 84th a high female at $2,350. Bulls averaged $912 and females $825, a sale average of $862, down from last year’s $1,078. Other bidders included Henry C.
