Two Die of Wounds in Shamrock Shooting Affray
In Shamrock Texas H C Smith of McLean and his estranged wife Jessie died from bullet wounds suffered in a Saturday shooting at the D Ellis home six miles east of Shamrock. Smith aged 20 came to reconcile with his wife 18. A gun was fired, wounding Mrs D Ellis who was gravely ill. Relatives told of a frantic scene as Ruth Ellis described the events and the pursuit by Mr Ellis.

Man Waves Goodbye Dives Under Train
In Corsicana on January 23 John J. Lynch a 52 year old magazine salesman and former Royal Flying Corps officer plunged in front of a freight train and was killed instantly. Justice of the peace A E Foster returned a coroner's verdict of suicide noting Lynch had served nine years in the US Army and had worked with the labor department and lived in San Antonio El Paso and Seattle.

C. P. High Suthers age 54 editor and owner of The Tucumcari American died of a heart attack at his home at 11:15 this morning after several days illness. Born July 23 1883 in Tazewell Virginia he edited Clayton papers 18 years before coming to Tucumcari in 1926 to buy the American. Surviving his widow Mrs Dillon Brown Dalton and several Oklahoma relatives. Funeral plans not yet arranged.
