VIENTIANE Laos AP Diplo mats report Prince Boun Oums government unsettled by an alleged Chinese threat to supply MIG15 fighters to pro Communist rebels. Gen Phoumi Nosavan says the threat was broadcast in Chinese on Radio Peiping. Monitoring finds no record of such a broadcast.
Washington report notes the Council of State Chambers of Commerce predicts an economic boom and bust if Kennedy advisory spending proposals are enacted. The group warns the outcome hinges on policy implementation and timing, signaling potential volatility for markets and labor.
Finis Post, longtime editor of the Amarillo Sunday News Globe and former managing editor of the Globe Newspapers, died at Northwest Texas Hospital at 5:05 a.m. at age 66 after a three week illness. Survived by wife Gladys Hord Post, services set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church Annex. Burial in Llano Cemetery. memorial gifts to charities preferred. Post served Amarillo papers since 1930, rising to Sunday editor in 1951 and managing editor in 1955. He was born October 4, 1894, in Colony, Kansas.
Harold Eugene Kistner Jr., 35, former Northern Biochemical Corp. president, is held on $25,000 bond on charges of abetting a $2 million embezzlement. He was arrested at his Sheldon home and waived arraignment. Preliminary hearing set for Wednesday at U. S. Commissioner Forker. Also detained, 58 year old Bernice Iverson Geiger, assistant cashier and bank board member, who admitted embezzlement and remains jailed without bond.
A New York City tenement fire on a third floor apartment killed seven people including four children and a mother. Howard Fancher, 42, survived with three daughters, while sons Charles 4 and Howard Jr 9 died along with Anna Fancher 36 and children Josephine 7 Charles 6 Nancy 3 Florence 2 and Helen 1. A month earlier a 4 year old was spanked for playing with matches. Fire officials indicated the blaze began in the boys room and was aided by a draft from a broken window.
Buddies Dear Editor: I hear President Kennedy sold most of his assets before taking office and invested in government bonds. A neighbor suggests the Conflict of Interests Department should review this because Kennedy was hired by the people yet appears financially connected to the government. He must be careful as he advocates for our side in the pay dispute. D. E. Scott Wellington.

A Navy radar Constellation on Midway Island crashed during landing and nine men were killed or missing. The 70 ton four engine plane had just completed a one hour patrol between Midway and the Aleutians. Six crew and three ground crew were aboard or nearby when it swerved and struck a fire truck, bursting into flames. This was the first fatal Air Barrier crash since the program began in 1958.
New York Central Railroad halted nearly all freight and passenger service across its 12,000 mile system after a 660 tugboat men strike. Labor Secretary Arthur Goldberg joined talks as the Kennedy administration seeks a quick settlement to the transportation crisis. The embargo began Sunday night with no new freight shipments accepted and only token passenger service in parts west of Buffalo, expected to end within 48 hours. The move idles 12,000 workers though officials say layoffs are not planned.
A fire heavily damaged the upstairs room of the George Autry Printing Studios at 412 E. Std. Sunday afternoon destroying a collection of more than 50 paintings, many of them original works by the late George Autry. Four Amarillo units responded at 12:46 p.m. and fought flames that spread to walls and the roof, leaving the room and contents nearly destroyed and the building soaked in water and smoke.
