Slaying Suspect Hodges Quizzed In Second Amarillo Strangulation

G W Mickey Hodges 31 the top suspect in Amarillo's second strangulation within two weeks was taken for laboratory tests out of town. Potter County Sheriff Paul Gaither and District Attorney Wayne Bagley withheld test details. Hodges, a Navy veteran, is alleged to have killed his aunt Jimmie Gibson 49 by strangulation with a scarf. The body was found by her husband in the Gibson home. The prior victim, Martin Dodson 51, was found dead at the Lamar Hotel reportedly strangled with his key chain.

Wolf Youth To Remain With Family In Delinquency Case

Buddy Wolf Horace Louis Wolf Jr 14 was ruled a delinquent child in a domestic relations court hearing. He must stay with his parents at 4507 West 3rd report to juvenile probation and cooperate with counseling. He must also restitution for theater firecracker damage and refrain from further delinquent acts. The court noted he possessed a bomb on December 27 and the case continued.

President Eisenhower Denies Congress Access to Secret Defense Reports

President Eisenhower refused to provide Congress with two secret defense reports by Killian and the Gaither panel. He said committees already have access to similar information and urged reliance on confidential advice. Plans Begin for Keep Amarillo Beautiful Club Drive

About 20 civic and city representatives met at the Garden Center to launch a long range Keep Amarillo Beautiful program. Amarillo Council of Garden Clubs leads with Mrs. Joe Deason and Mrs. W. B. Lawrence guiding the effort. The city is divided into 31 survey areas to identify improvement sites and report progress at the Feb. 19 meeting. Poll taxes sell until January 31 with a $1.75 cost. Receipts may be bought by spouses. Potter County receipts available at Hubert Cole office 600 Fillmore, Am rillo Building offices, and Globe News Building editorial department. Randall County residents in Amarillo may purchase at the Junior Chamber of Commerce and Randall County substation.
