Santa Fe diesel train wreck kills dozens in Los Angeles
A Santa Fe diesel train bound for San Diego derailed on a curve near Washington Blvd and Soto St in Los Angeles killing about 47 people and wounding 35 to 40. Deputy coroner Charles Woodward cited the high speed and curve as likely causes. Engineer Frank Parrish from San Bernardino said he slowed after a 35 mph marker and blacked out before the crash. Emergency crews and doctors were summoned as ambulances lined the scene. clergymen aided the dead and injured.
