Bynum Denies Forcible Entry Allegation in Austin Incident
Rep. Ben Bynum of Amarillo says he did not force his way into a young woman's Austin apartment Saturday afternoon. The woman alleges he entered The Penthouse near Guadalupe and 13th Street, where Bynum was staying for a House Insurance Committee subcommittee meeting. She reportedly sprayed mace, and officers later sought her signed complaint but found no charges filed. Bynum, a known teetotaler, said he was not drunk and explained the encounter involved staff and Rep. Phil Cates playing bridge in his apartment.
