A separate note reports Charles de Gaulle dismissing his secret service after the unsolved Moroccan leftist leader kidnapping.
Associate editor Paul Timmons argues Amarillo Air Force Base could see a wartime revival postponing its phase-out due to Pentagon needs for trained personnel. He notes other bases are full, Amarillo has space, and a policy shift could extend the base's life beyond the postwar plan.
