Mrs. Annie Laura Lay 91 widow of W. M. Lay pioneer banker sheriff tax assessor rancher and stockman died last night at 5 45 in Northwest Texas Hospital after a week of illness. A resident of Amarillo since 1903 she was born July 24 1864 in Weatherford Texas. She supported McMurry College and Amarillo churches and was active in church work until about 15 years ago. She lived at 1012 Van Buren and helped nieces and nephews while her husband served as Lubbock County sheriff and tax assessor earlier in their careers.

Ball Park Bond Election Slated With Noon to 7 Polls
Potter County residents who paid poll tax or had exemptions and own property may vote in the ball park bond election. A $375,000 bond would fund a new steel and concrete park at the Tri-State Fairgrounds, with funds reallocating eight cents of county tax to permanent improvements and shifting eight cents from the general fund. The Tri-State Fair Association would operate the park with Amarillo Gold Sox as a community project, and five percent of gate receipts would help retire the bonds.
