Two Arrested in Slaying of 20-Year-Old Celia Cienski
In Suffield Connecticut the body of Celia Cienski, 20, was found in Windsor Locks Canal after she disappeared on a double date. Two men, Joseph De Maio, 35, and Celetti, 34, were arrested in New Jersey on fugitive charges and tied to the case. Both had prior police records. De Maio from Springfield Massachusetts and Celetti from Windsor Locks Connecticut.

167 Rescued From Ship in Mediterranean Storm
The Greek passenger ship Corinthia struck a reef in a storm off Civita Vecchia. All 167 passengers were rescued by the Italian vessel Sicilia under Capt Antonio del Pino, who steered a patch of calm water enabling evacuees to reach the tug Praedo. The Corinthia limped toward port with a 6x9 foot gash in her starboard bow.
