O K Traughber a 60 year old Roosevelt County farmer was found dead of a gunshot wound two miles north of Portales near the Clovis highway. A coroner's jury ruled accidental death. Pioneer Elliott Dies at Tucumcari After Long Life of Ranching

J W Elliott a 102 year old pioneer of New Mexico and Texas died in Tucumcari after a two week illness. Born April 20 1846 in North Carolina he lived near Springfield Illinois at Lincoln's death earlier moved to Texas in 1869 and to New Mexico in 1891. He managed an 28 000 acre ranch west of Tucumcari since 1907 and was famed for old fashioned farming and deer hunting skills. He leaves three sons and two daughters.
