Sheriff Glenn Axline and bank official Charles Bundy were killed with several others wounded as a 65 man gang attempt failed. One raider Melvin Leis died by own action. posse captured two others. The robbery stemmed from a plan to loot Leonore State Bank.

Four Convicts Hijack San Quentin Officials in Bold Escape
Four inmates at San Quentin seized Warden James B. Holohan and kidnapped six men to flee. Public Works Administration today allotted about $6,000,000 to 74 new federal and non federal construction projects. Federal agents surrounded the Barker clan hideout at Oklawaha Florida and a six hour gun battle left Ma Barker and Fred Barker dead with machine guns in hand and only their bodies found after the smoke cleared. Texas Bank Looted at Buffalo by Noted Robbers
A carefully planned raid on Citizens State Bank of Buffalo netted more than $5,000 in cash. Two young men entered at 7 30 A M while two others waited outside. They fled in two cars with Louisiana plates, one later abandoned five miles from town.
