Graham Plow Site to Go on IRS Sale Block
The Graham Plow Co factory at 610 Crockett faces IRS sealed bids on January 27 at 10 a.m. for the plant grounds lodge and three blocks. Soldier Cleared Of My Lai Actions For Obeying Orders
Sgt. Charles E. Hutto was acquitted by a six officer panel of criminal charges for firing on at least six Vietnamese civilians during the March 16 1968 My Lai sweep. The jury ruled it unjust to punish an enlisted man for orders from higher command, despite potential illegality of those orders.

Swisher county authorities investigate the shotgun death of 79 year old Mrs. C. O. Kesler found slain in her farm home twelve miles east of Tulia on the Silverton highway. Her son Frank Kesler discovered the body Thursday afternoon. Texas Rangers were asked to assist as a door was forced but nothing in the white stucco farmhouse was disturbed except the telephone.

Texas Draft Call In February Total 1185 Men
The State Selective Service office announced 1185 Texas men will be drafted in February, up 280 from January. Col. Melvin Glantz said selections come from the extended priority group carried from 1970 and the first priority group for 1971 if needed.
Our Town Meeting in Amarillo Draws 800 Smiles
More than 800 Amarillans gathered at the Civic Center for the second Our Town meeting as organizers outline plans to boost morale. Attorney Harlow Sprouse listed 10 projects from the first session, including a sister city, city song contest, official tours, balloon messages, city flower planting, Love Amarillo Day, a steak cut named for Amarillo, art contests, ethnic fiesta, and a Glumbug of the Month award.

Pair Admits City Crimes in 1970 Robberies
Potter County sheriff s officers and Amarillo police closed the files on several armed robberies and related crimes from 1970 after two jail inmates confessed Thursday. The men, jailed for other charges, admitted involvement in four burglaries a theft an arson case and an armed robbery and attempted robbery. Lt Stony Jackson said investigators questioned the prisoners who said no prosecution would result due to their indictments. Robberies cleared include Scivally s Affiliated Food Store on May 28 and K C Foods on May 13 with about 5000 missing from K C Foods. In both cases robbers wore bank bags over their heads and used store employees as lines. The two masked attackers followed the same pattern at Scivally s two weeks later. The pair also admitted involvement in the March 30 attempted robbery of Town and Country Liquor Store in which owner Byrum Bob Haile was shot. Haile was wounded.
