Governor Murray urges Oklahoma legislators to approve a dormitory near the capitol to reduce reliance on costly rooms and to escape lobbyists, wine, and bribes as they pass laws. He argues the capitol's location forces long walks to rooms used by lobbyists.
The Associated Press reports Daisy De Boe, former secretary to Clara Bow, testifies in Los Angeles grand theft trial. Read 30 page confession alleging Bow drank, argued, and wanted hush money while De Boe burned letters from Harry Richman and others.
The forecast calls for Amarillo and adjacent counties to see increasing cloudiness and warmer temperatures, with unsettled conditions and little temperature change in parts of New Mexico and West Texas. Overnight and daytime highs show modest variation with morning and afternoon readings noted.
Dallas based Burrus Milling Company will build a one million bushel grain elevator in Amarillo on the Santa Fe right of way east of the Southwestern Public Service plant. The project starts within 30 days with completion by wheat harvest. A second million-bushel unit may be added later as part of a larger plant plan.
In a long distance call from Tulsa, Will Rogers told mayor Ernest Thompson he is for Amarillo. He praised the city’s relief effort and noted Amarillo is not in a drought area, avoiding mass calls for aid while offering his services.
Oklahoma City January 14 The state bureau of criminal identification arrested a man for questioning in connection with the Donley County State Bank robbery at Clarendon Texas in June 1930. Two unmasked men obtained seven thousand five hundred dollars.
Texas Corporation boosts tank wagon price of gasoline by one cent per gallon to 12.44 cents across New York and New England territory, effective immediately.
An earthquake in Mexico City caused at least one death and four injuries, starting fires in two zones, cracking buildings and triggering panic. A wall crushed a woman on San Antonio Abad street while four others, including a child, were hurt by falling debris as lights failed and lines were knocked out. The tremor began at 6:48 p m and lasted about two minutes with aftershocks.
Senator Walter Woodul of Houston said he took his wife to Houston to be at the bedside of her brother W. T. Eldridge Jr who had been shot. He declined to say if the shooting was accidental and urged reporters to verify details. Eldridge Jr is the son of Mr and Mrs W T Eldridge Sr of Sugar Land and Houston.
The world observed unusual weather patterns on a Wednesday with a snowfall in Mexico City despite its warm climate. A light, stamp-sized blizzard took hold, puzzling residents and meteorologists alike.
Weather observer H T Collman reports Thursday will be partly cloudy and warmer than Wednesday. Wednesday set a high of 37 and a low near freezing as a brisk south wind swept across Dallas North Texas and Amarillo. Oklahoma City is typically colder than Amarillo during these cold waves.

Dallas chief of detectives said James Cerf son of Corsicana banker Isaac N. Cerf was kidnapped in Dallas over a week ago and held for ransom but was safely returned to his parents. He did not take official action at the parents request and the private detective agency handled the case.

In Oklahoma City on January 14 Senator W. O. Ray of Tishomingo introduced a bill to appropriate 250 000 dollars for seed purchases to be given free to tenant farmers in Oklahoma. The measure aims to support farmers with field and garden seed via state distribution programs.
The Texas legislature advances with organization and staff hiring as Governor Moody prepares to resign to Rose Sterling within a week. Retrenchment shapes the session with pay cuts for legal counsel and debates over stamp and telephone allowances. The House and Senate invite Moody to speak in person.

Sheriff Butner said police in several cities were asked to locate the vehicle and a felony warrant for Lounsbury is on file in Dalhart.
Reese Barton aged about 101 died of heart neuralgia at the Smith ranch 20 miles north of Childress Texas. Oldest Southwest cowboy, Barton rode the range until two years ago and claimed to know every cattle brand in Texas. He dated from 1840 Charleston and recalled driving cattle to Abilene and horses from Fort Griffin to Fort Elliott. He will be buried in Childress.
The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals upheld the death sentence for Moncus Twitty who was convicted of criminal assault on a three year old carnival worker’s daughter. Twitty’s conviction and sentence were affirmed on appeal from Gray County. The incident occurred last April 30 while the child slept in a tent with her brother P F Robidieux a hermit trapper. Robidieux had previously been convicted of the murder of James and Willits Moore fishermen on Kenyon Island Calhoun County and received a two year sentence in Victoria County. Robidioux claimed self defense.
Ace Pendleton’s bank robbery trial in Pampa was postponed as he suffers fever and lung hemorrhages from pneumonia. His counsel Ben Baldwin agreed to proceed once his health improves. The delay comes with no effort from the state to compel a quicker trial.
