Labor clashes erupt at the Csepel steel works near Budapest with Communist militia firing on laid off workers. One confirmed dead and up to five possibly killed, with injuries unknown. Cecil Lee Culver Jr., 27, son of Groom bank president, confessed to FBI agents in Fort Worth that he embezzled more than 5500 from his father's bank. He admitted taking lump sums via fictitious withdrawals since last summer after working as a teller at State National Bank in Groom. He previously faced a 1954 transport of a stolen car conviction and received a probated two-year sentence in Tucson.
John Gilbert Graham was executed in Colorado's gas chamber for the 1955 dynamite murder plot that killed his mother and 43 airline passengers. At 7:50 p.m. MST he was strapped in, wearing white shorts, as guards prepared the chamber and a stethoscope was attached before the sodium cyanide pellets were released.

Junior steer Hereford 595 and Angus 504, swine show 375, lamb 236, poultry 167, rabbit 195. The seven day fair at Tri-State grounds includes free parking and enhanced security. preparations underway with new corrals and cleaned facilities.
