Washington January 10 The Supreme Court refused to intervene in the Dallas Fort Worth airport facilities row. The court left intact a Civil Aeronautics Board order naming Amon Carter Field as the central terminating point for Dallas Fort Worth traffic.
President Eisenhower told Congress the government will dispose of 578 million dollars of surplus U S farm products abroad through sales or relief grants. He noted 453 million dollars in sales and 125 million in grants arranged or under discussion with multiple nations under a three year plan.
G. C. Jarvis, 49, a one-armed attendant at Othel's Gulf Service in Mobile, fought off two robbers late last night using a quart oil can. He described a belt-wielding assailant who struck him, a second man who helped plan the stickup, and a black 1950 car that fled east on 6th. Police were alerted around 11:45 p.m. and Jarvis provided descriptions of the two suspects and the getaway vehicle.
Citizens in Randall County vote today on a 900000 bond to finance an expressway from Amarillo to Canyon and widen Highway 87 north of Canyon. A two thirds majority is needed to raise the tax rate above the limit. Polls open 8 am to 7 pm at ten locations including two in south Amarillo. Absentee votes totaled 51.
