A boisterous House approved a cash payment bonus 356 to 59, sending the 1936 battle over the measure to the Senate. Senate leaders push to revise its form to gain presidential approval while Finance Committee will convene Monday in Washington.
Washington dispatch lists Texas congressmen votes on the soldier's bonus with nays by Buchanan Lanham Sumners and the ayes including Blanton Cross Dies Eagle Johnson Jones Kleberg McFar lane Mahon Mansfield Maverick Patman Patton Rayburn Sanders South Thomason West.
Chairman Harrison of Mississippi called a Senate finance committee meeting to review a bonus funded by bonds payable in cash on demand. Major veterans groups back the House bill as the Vinson-Patman-McCormack measure passes with no fixed payment method. The bill would make adjusted service certificates payable immediately with 3 percent interest through 1945 for those who did not cash them. The earlier tension in bonus fights eased as galleries packed the chamber.

Two wounded Japanese airmen who landed in Soviet territory were captured after an armed encounter with a peasant and two Soviet soldiers. They were hospitalized at Pokrovka, Siberia, after the clash in which they used pistol, sword, and bayonet.
