Floyd Byrnes, condemned for the hatchet killings of 12 year old Myrna Juergens and her mother and grandmother in San Angelo, faces execution between midnight and dawn Friday as Governor Moody declines clemency. Memphis Fire Chief Silas Wood Dies From Truck Accident
Silas Wood 48, Memphis fire chief, died in Memphis hospital from injuries suffered when a fire truck backed up and struck him as he unwound a hose at a blaze on North Eleventh Street. He had served as assistant chief and chief of the Memphis volunteer department and is survived by his wife and seven children. Funeral arrangements were not announced. Waco chosen for the 1930 Texas Jersey Cattle Club meeting after a contest with Corpus Christi and Denison.

Polk street clerk jailed for assault on 7 year old girl
Julius Epstein 21 a window dresser employed at a Polk street store was arrested on a charge of criminal assault after admitting aggravated assault on a seven year old girl whom he lured into his car in Roberts Place. He allegedly drove around then assaulted the child and was kept under guard at the county jail.

Little Rock Wife Dies by Suicide After Reconciliation Refusal
Florence Lee Rose a 30 year old former musical comedy star and ex wife of Robert A Baker was found shot to death in a well house at the Bakers home. Police say she killed herself after Baker refused to consent to a reconciliation. Rose married Baker in Memphis in 1923 and divorced him recently. She was last seen alive yesterday afternoon leaving J R Murphy's house to go to a district.

California Signs Boulder Dam Bill Utah Key State
Governor C C Young signed the emergency measure ratifying the Swing Johnson bill after passage in both houses. California became the fifth of seven states to ratify with Wyoming Colorado Nevada New Mexico and California in, Arizona likely out.
