Petitions filed at 3 15 by Tex Thornton George Autry and Gene Chapman with about 30 signatures each. Election set for April 1 under city and state law require a portion of last general municipal election voters to sign. The 1945 election saw 207 city votes. Withdrawn candidates and current officials indicated they will not seek re election.

Trans World Airline said its board adopted a financing plan to receive a 10 million dollar convertible loan from the Hughes Tool Co of Houston and to raise TWA common stock from 1 million to 3 million shares. Train explosion kills three aboard Empire Builder
Three trainmen died when the locomotive blew up near Crary North Dakota during a westbound Empire Builder run.
