Texas rancher killed in feud after birthday dinner
Robert Barton a 50 year old rancher from Roger Mills County Oklahoma died from a knife wound in the throat after a dispute at a Barton home near Higgins Texas. Grant Kennedy age 12 was held in Cheyenne on murder charges. Kennedy reportedly argued with Barton over his niece and a struggle ensued ending with Barton slain. Kennedy was arrested and jailed at Cheyenne. Both men were well known in the area.

Texarkana Texas police hold 17 year old Rush Wimberly Jr after a noon shooting on a passenger train in Union Station. J Marvin Hawkins Jr 16 died from a pistol bullet. Coroner's inquest found Hawkins died from a shot fired after a pipe belonging to Wimberly was broken by Hawkins's brother J C Hawkins. The incident occurred on a special Arkansas bound car carrying six Lomis students en route to a Missouri military academy.
