The Amarillo total surpassed the April 1964 peak of 250.7 million by 12.4 million.
Texas banks posted near record deposits in yearend statements with Dallas and Houston leading gains. Improved employment, more industry, crops, oil activity, construction, and tourism drove growth. Analysts expect continued prosperity through 1965 as firms trading with Mexico and Canada bolster activity.
