Ex President Calvin Coolidge will be buried in Plymouth Vermont beside his father and son after a 25 minute service at Jonathan Edwards Church. Mrs Coolidge chose two musical pieces and the service will be simple with no eulogy. His body lies in Northampton at The Beeches.
A South Bend News-Times story claims government secret service officials concluded a gangster placed a bomb in a mail pouch aboard the 1931 Kansas plane that killed Knute Rockne and seven others. The report says the bomb was timed to explode in flight and targeted a Notre Dame witness.
State auditor Moore Lynn urged a legislative inquiry into Texas Highway Commission buying practices. He said the investigation covers bids and purchasing procedures and will be submitted to the legislature for a full hearing to determine if methods served the states interests and which department may be at fault.
B. O. Simpson 40, male patients ward supervisor at San Antonio State Hospital, was found murdered on the roof of the main dining hall. He was beaten with a club, stabbed with an ice pick, and strangled with his belt. Justice of the Peace John R. Shook reported murder by strangulation after witnesses testified. Simpson was last seen in his office yesterday evening.
Alton B. Sherman of Hyannis Massachusetts flew 133.968 miles per hour to win the Curtiss trophy event at the Miami All-American Air Races, a 15 mile three cornered course before 5,000 spectators. The $200 prize accompanied the honor with Art Carnahan of Bloomington Indiana recording 124.783 mph for second and Neil McCray third.
Two weeks from today Earl Carrolls Vanities will be staged with matinee and night performances. Wilbur C. Hawk paid 5000 for the rights and guarantees two full houses. 100 entertainers, led by Al Trahan, perform in 55 scenes with 30 stage hands. Mail orders to Hawk or call Lois Black for reservations. Philadelphia reports the death of Rose McCloskey a 19 year old salesgirl found under a Fairmount Park tree with her throat cut and head battered. Dennis Boyle her 30 year old would be fiance was found dazed nearby after the attack. Police suspect two assailants and continued inquiries as Boyle was treated for head injuries.
Democratic House leaders faced stiff resistance from eastern city Democrats while Northwestern Republican progressives rallied in support of the emergency farm relief bill. Representative LaGuardia said most progressives favor the measure with minor amendments as debate continues. Jones of Texas remained hopeful of ultimate passage despite opposition from big blocs.
Seminole Okla Jan 6 state prison fugitive George Noland was killed by two guards in what authorities call an act in line of duty. The guards were returning Matt and George Kimes, noted desperadoes and foes of Noland, to the state prison when the fatal shooting occurred.
Harry F. Gerguson known as Prince Michael Romanoff was ordered excluded from the United States after a hearing by a board of inquiry. He was released from Ellis Island on a 2500 dollar bond pending further citizenship investigation and possible return to the country.
President elect Franklin D. Roosevelt cannot attend the funeral of former President Calvin Coolidge in Northampton Massachusetts tomorrow. He will be represented by his wife Eleanor Roosevelt and their son James Roosevelt at the services.

Clifford Bush, an Amarillo man described as a Negro, was charged in federal court with possession and transportation of liquor after his arrest yesterday morning. He pleaded not guilty and posted a $300 bond.
In Southern San Jacinto County a pair of bank robberies unfolded with chaos in Cleveland and Spring. Five men escaped the Cleveland bank with about $1000 amid heavy gunfire as locals and deputies pursued, while a Spring State Bank attempt failed when the cashier opened fire. Bloodhounds rushed to the scene from Huntsville as residents joined the search.
Stamford authorities report Ray Rector a 48 year old past grand master of Texas Odd Fellows and local civic leader found shot to death in his home garage early today.
Amarillo hosts the Fat Stock Show Amusement Hall at 2068 Polk Street with a nine o clock opening and a inaugurating dance by the Melody Maids Orchestra. Admission is 50 cents per couple with profits aiding the Fat Stock Show. The hall features a new floor, bowling alleys, a cafe, a soft drink fountain, a check room, a handball court and a shooting gallery with more improvements planned. Regular dances and biweekly schedules will be announced soon.
The U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver affirmed Maj. Charles A. Shepard’s murder conviction for poisoning his second wife at Fort Riley in June 1929. The ruling, filed today and made public in Topeka, upheld a life sentence in federal penitentiary with a two to one decision. Judge Orie L. Phillips dissented. Shepard has long been at liberty during appeal.
Major Charles A. Shepard announced he would appeal his murder conviction to the U S Supreme Court after the U S Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed it. He remains free on bond and on duty at Fitzsimons General Hospital in Aurora.
Two earthquakes struck Volo Thessaly causing property damage with no casualties. Residents panicked and spent the night outdoors in the town and surrounding district.
New York Jan 6 trading resumed with modest vigor after a midweek pause. Prices advanced most of the day led by rails with several gains of 1 to 2 points though closing values were below intraday highs. Transfers totaled 1,100,000 shares.
New York security markets and most commodity exchanges will be closed tomorrow in tribute to Calvin Coolidge. Major stock exchanges in other cities will suspend as a majority of key commodity markets shorten or stop trading nationwide.
