Lamesa Man Edges Death After Five Days Lost
Edgar Brasch of Lamesa Texas was found in Carlsbad New Mexico after a five day trek in the Guadalupe mountains. He wandered away during a deer hunt with his uncle H E Williams and discarded his rifle to avoid shooting himself. A 100 plus strong posse hunted through snow filled canyons, while Brasch suffered near freezing conditions and hunger. Lamesa citizens pledged ten thousand dollars to finish the search.

Floydada paving bond election carried four to one
Special to The News Floydada January 6 paving bonds carried yesterday by a large majority with 137 votes for and 32 against. The result promises eight more blocks of pavement in Floydada, adding to the four already paved. This marks a second bond election in two weeks to win by more than four to one, following the December 18 vote for a new ward school building.
