After a lengthy probe the Amarillo Police Department formally cleared the 1963 slaying of Mildred Fournier. A 21-year-old airman has been accused as her killer and the case moves toward possible next steps in the days ahead.
Dr Bob Kazmayer of Rochester warns in his annual New Year newsletter that prosperity has dangers. He cites 1964 income reaching a half trillion and laments apathy and laziness among voters. Army helicopters evacuated nearly 200 people from two flooded areas along the Fel and Mad Rivers in Humboldt County California. Two more Fel River bodies were recovered bringing flood death toll to 23 with property damage around half a billion dollars.

A fire at Lamar Tech College Beaumont raged for over two hours Tuesday night nearly destroying the science building with an estimated loss of 750000.
