Gov. R. S. Sterling testified in federal court defending his proclamation of martial law in East Texas. After the governor's testimony both sides closed, and Dallas attorney Joe Bailey Jr. opened the injunction suit arguing the governor exceeded power in enforcing probation.
A notorious bank robber Gus Winkler has recovered almost the entire 2.87 million dollar Lincoln bank heist loot. Negotiable securities worth 583 thousand were returned to Lincoln National Bank officials in Chicago. The recovery reduced the loss to about 10 to 15 thousand dollars with bonds traced and hoped to be restored through legal actions.
