Weather and oil spill chase over Atlantic finds no tanker
Partly cloudy in New England today with gradual cooling and a chance of snow through Thursday. In Boston, search teams scoured 34 000 square miles of the North Atlantic for the Panamanian tanker Grand Zenith carrying 8.2 million gallons of fuel oil, but no trace was found. Oil slicks 4 to 60 miles from the Argo Merchant spill near Nantucket Shoals prompted chemical testing to identify origins while planes and ships mapped the area. The Grand Zenith, with a 38 crew, had radio silence five days, and authorities warned seas would rise to five to ten feet as weather worsened. The cargo destined for Brayton Point Power Station in Somerset Mass. remains unaccounted for amid a large offshore hunt.

65 Year Old Amarillo Widow Dies in Canyon Expressway Crash
A 65 year old Amarillo widow, Mrs Oleta Knight Gibbs, died after her car skidded on the Canyon Expressway and was struck by a northbound cattle truck driven by Roy O Conner. The accident occurred near S Harrison about 4 20 p m. O Conner, 37, received minor injuries. Autopsy ordered by Justice of the Peace Roy Byrd. Witness Patricia Pratt, 20, reported Gibbs swerved to avoid a stalled car causing the crash.

AP reports descendants of African bees that escaped a 1957 Brazilian lab stung 10 Argentines in Santa Lucia, San Juan, in the first attack of the year. Police said victims were treated in hospitals for multiple stings after a second attack in six days.
