Jan 4 The Whiting Brothers Service Station in Vega was robbed of 500 dollars around 1030 p m Sheriff Day Thompson of Oldham County reported. Attendant Jack Thurston aged 32 was missing along with his car. State highway patrol and sheriffs deputies set up road blocks.
The International Union of Electrical Workers approves a federal mediator's fact finding board for Westinghouse Electric whose 44,000 members would return to work if the company accepts the board's binding findings. The union and management remain without further talks until the company's position is stated.

Santa Fe Railway filed a second motion in the Texas Supreme Court seeking a ruling on the Amarillo union shop dispute independent of actions in Washington. The state court delayed ruling previously and allowed extended argument time last May. The case involves 13 employees against 16 non operating unions and the injunction issued in 1953 remains in effect pending the high court outcome.
Secretary Benson briefed House Agriculture Committee Republicans on the admin program while Chairman Cooley accused him of political maneuvering. Senate leaders said a new farm plan aims for White House action by February 15 with a soil bank proposal to pay farmers to retire cropland.
Weather readings display wind speeds and visibility across Texas and Oklahoma for Wednesday afternoon. Houston shows .11 inches and 15 mph with clear skies. Dallas records unclear due to garbled text. Amarillo reports partly cloudy conditions with 12 mph winds.
The Weather Bureau reports continued fair and mild conditions in Amarillo with a high near 73 degrees today. Yesterday also reached 73, close to the January 4 record of 74 set in 1907.

In Great Falls Montana police hunted a so called lover's lane killer after the bodies of two young lovers were found. Patricia Kalitzke 16 was shot in the back of the head and discovered in a ravine northwest of the city. Lloyd Duane Bogle 18 was found beside his car near a lovers lane four miles away. Air Police at Malmstrom Air Force Base aided the probe.
A 12 minute film on KGNC TV showcases snowy egret and whooping crane with scenes from virgin forest. Sponsored by the Texas Panhandle Chapter of the National Audubon Society, edited by Louis Bromfield, with bird songs from Cornell University. It starts at 10 50 p.m.
