Two Memphis men died when a Fort Worth & Denver passenger train struck their truck in the north Memphis area. Thomas J. Hampton 28 died instantly. R L Robertson 46 died in an ambulance. Transient Killed While Trying To Hop Train
James Fulton Hardy Jr 35 a Los Angeles construction laborer died after leaping for a moving Fort Worth and Denver freight train at the Polk Street crossing in Amarillo. He struck his head on a hard object and died instantly. Witness R R McMillan saw the fall as the train departed at 6 15. The body was taken to Griggs Chapel and later identified by a social security card.

Mrs. Preed, 25, began digging and mixing cement last April to construct a home for her family in Oberlin. With no carpentry experience she and husband Harry, a garage mechanic, built a four room first floor and three rooms above.
