W G Dendy, whose five children Ruth 7 Ravis 3 Ophelia 14 Irene 10 John 13 died in a house fire near Little Rock, was arrested on arson charges. Mrs Dendy had died a year earlier. Three Bodies From Sunken Sub Recovered Off Cape Cod
Divers retrieved the bodies of three of the forty men from the sunken submarine S-4 after it was rammed and sunk near Cape Cod. The remains were found in the engine room, brought to the surface, and placed aboard the destroyer Maury for transport to the Boston navy yard and Chelsea hospital for identification. It is believed the men died by drowning. In Washington, President Coolidge asked Congress to authorize a three civilian experts and two retired naval officers commission to investigate the disaster and propose safety improvements for submarine operations. The measure includes subpoena power and would report to Congress through the president with full publicity. The proposed budget was $20,000.
