Civilization cannot return or stand still. we must perfect new methods, adjust our social and economic structures, and push forward. The legislative, judicial, and executive branches share the task of building a modern system that serves all. People seek greater opportunity and happiness through integrity, responsibility, and justice, not mere wealth.

Monroe Routon 32 a former convict confessed to Houston police that he Clyde Barrow and a third unnamed man robbed the Farmers State Bank at Shire Grimes County on February 19. Routon said Barrow was the lookout, the trio burned the safe, and $2900 in currency plus bonds and silver were taken. He claimed the job was planned in Dallas mid February and that Routon disposed of bonds in Kansas City. Routon, jailed yesterday, said Barrow feared capture and would not surrender, predicting officers would kill him.
The House opened debate on a new liquor tax bill to raise about 470 million dollars in the first year. It raises spirits tax by 90 cents a gallon, imposes 2 dollars per gallon on distilled spirits, 5 dollars per barrel on beer, and adds wine levies. The bill, reported by ways and means on a party line vote, seeks to deter illegal liquor traffic while boosting federal revenue.

Amarillo officials announced final approval for several CWA projects at 704 Grant Street, creating about 150 jobs. The plan includes a firemen's drill tower near Fourth Avenue and Madison Street, with CWA providing laborers and carpenters for 30 days while the city supplies materials.
A tornado struck a dairying community five miles northeast of Port Arthur injuring three people and causing about 20000 dollars in property damage. Homes and barns were torn apart and feeds damaged. Mellie Hubbard, seven, was injured by flying glass and a door pinning her fingers.
John W. Underwood of Denton was unanimously reelected president of the Texas Jersey Cattle Club at its annual meeting in Lubbock. D. T. Simon secret ary and Joe W. Ridgeway treasurer were also reelected. R. F. Hildebrand of San Antonio was chosen vice president. San Antonio named as 1935 convention city. Fred Newport of Itasca named Texas director of the American Jersey Cattle Club, succeeding Jack Shelton of Luling. Directors named for terms include W. M. Barnes Venus F. C. Newport Itasca E. H. Cummings Taft Jack Shelton Paul Platter Sherman Tom Raburn Bonham and D. C. Buchanan Sugarland.
