Sam Lewis a retired Miami man boarded a bus after the Orange Bowl game thinking it was a downtown shuttle. The chartered bus carried the Kennedy press party to Miami International Airport amid sirens flashing and police motorcycles. He quipped he voted for Kennedy anyway.
Dear Editor notes Washington worries over billions invested by U.S. industry in foreign factories as money tightens. The writer recalls counsel that defecting capitalists act from cheaper labor and politics abroad, even joking that dogs leave home when tails are twisted.
Four men from Texas and New Mexico were found dead in a Piper Tri PacER wreck near Fort Sumner after a hunting trip gone wrong. Victims include Don Tabor of Farwell and Charles Burks of Seymour. Berggren and Looney arrangements noted.

Vice President elect Lyndon B Johnson will resign his Senate seat Tuesday after being sworn in for another six year term. Texas Governor Price Daniel named William A Blakeley to succeed Johnson effective immediately following the resignation.
Police found three year old girl alone in a locked Bronx apartment beside her deceased mother Jennie McKiernan a 35 year old widow with a heart ailment. The child lay hungry and silent as authorities determined the mother had been dead for days after a fall from bed. The sister in Long Island had alerted police after failed attempts to reach the woman.
The United States weighs military and political options as Laos sees renewed fighting. Reports of Communist intervention remain tenuous after a UN inquiry found little solid evidence, while Southeast Asia Treaty Organization lacks a clear basis for action. An American recon aircraft was shot at, hinting at arms airdrops but offering no decisive proof.
