Premature nitroglycerine blast during oil well shooting near Franklin
Six people were used in a premature explosion at an oil well shoot on John A Stone’s farm five miles from Franklin. Among the dead are Mr and Mrs Paul Stone, Herbert and John Whitman, Eugene H Neil and Robert Kinnar. One woman survived as did two men who escaped unharmed. Witnesses reported Kinnar opened a nitro glycerine can and warned spectators to stand back.
