North Texas hit by snowstorm outages and travel disruption
A major North Texas winter storm left about 68,000 customers without power across northeast Texas and near Dallas as ice laden trees snapped power lines. Crews race to repair transmission lines, with full restoration likely 7 to 10 days after lines are back up. Temperatures near freezing threaten icy roads and possible freezing rain with sleet, while Lubbock and Panhandle report six inches of snow. Dallas area crews sand bridges and overpasses as flights at DFW face cancellations but runways remain clear and open.
