Three large firms Texaco Gulf Oil and Continental Oil boosted gasoline prices by about 1 percent effective at 7 am with kerosene and distillates up 1.4 cents a gallon. Gulf raised third grade tank wagon prices by 2 cents while Continental posted 1 cent hikes for kerosene and diesel. In Houston premium hits 25 cents a gallon standard 23.5 cents as refiner pricing varies statewide.

Baby-Size Death Ray Demonstrated At Alabama Research Meet
At Auburn Alabama Polytechnic Institute scientists demonstrated a tiny glass bottle death ray using radioactive phosphorus. The invisible beam travels about 10 feet and can illuminate plant growth and nutrient movement.
