Two Civic Clubs Urged to Back Tax Amendment
East Amarillo and San Jacinto civic clubs heard Friday night that passage of the tax amendment is essential to securing water for Amarillo. Jucee W. A. Palmer told the East Amarillo group that bonds require more security than present tax limits provide, with only 20 cents per $100 valuation available for interest and sinking fund. Local leaders urged extending city limits to include needed territory and for San Jacinto voters to support the measure. The San Jacinto club voted unanimously to back the amendment, with Rev Z B Pirtle and Bob Clark presiding at respective meetings.
