PAMPA December 11 Three men were arrested in connection with the slaying of Oscar Williams a 45 year old apartment house owner who was shot to death at his doorway tonight. The suspects were seen leaving the scene after an afternoon quarrel with Williams and were taken into custody after being found in a beer parlor a car nearby and a car in the street. Four bullets pierced Williams body and he died instantly. Funeral plans await Williams son Frank Williams of Hobbs New Mexico. The slaying follows a recent local fatal shooting and adds to a string of violence in the area.
MALVERN Ark Dec 11 Prosecutor W H Glover said the trial of Wayman Vasco Carrier on a murder charge has been postponed from tomorrow to Dec 15 Carrier was arrested in El Paso Tex in connection with the death of John Van Hooser of Lubbock Tex whose body was found on a highway near Malvern in a litter of beer bottles He apparently died from a blow on the head Carrier pleaded innocent to the charge.
Elmer Grady Messick was seriously burned when a gas leak caused an explosion as he lit a burner at his home. The blast destroyed his three room house and damaged nearby Sam McDade’s home, with total losses around 2500 dollars. Messick was hospitalized after the incident.
