Statistics presented at an Interstate Commerce Commission hearing in Lubbock support the Texas & Pacific claim to construct a 332 mile rail line from Big Spring to Lubbock Amarillo and Vega. Five Bricklayers Die as Scaffold Falls Ten Stories
Five bricklayers died when a scaffold collapsed from the 10th floor at a Seventh Avenue Sixteenth Street apartment house under construction in New York. Eight other workers were spared. one was only slightly injured after gripping end cables and being pulled to safety. Trio Rob Bank at Velasco Seizes 3000 in Loot
Three unmasked bandits robbed Velasco State Bank and escaped with about 3000 after beating and binding assistant cashier L. H. Skinner. Skinner described the men as about 50, and the other two about 30. Residents saw the trio drive around town before stopping at the bank. Police and a citizen posse blocked the highway to Angleton but did not arrest anyone hours after the robbery. Velasco, across from Freeport, is one of Texas' oldest towns. Skinner noted this as the bank’s first robbery in Velasco’s history.

Three Injured in Highway Blast Near Bowlegs
