Former Amarillo Police Chief John Speed Dies
John Speed longtime Amarillo resident and former chief of police died suddenly in Glen Rose Texas at 7 p.m. He was 67 and had battled illness for a year. Speed had been confined to Northwest Texas Hospital and recently went to Glen Rose for a rest before visiting relatives in Honey Grove. His body will be taken to Honey Grove for burial. Speed was keeper of the Potter County Zoo and earlier served as police chief in 1912 and later as a deputy under Sheriff Bill Burwell. He had lived in Amarillo since 1906. His wife died March 4 1936 and they had no children. No survivors in Amarillo. relatives live in Kentucky.

Funeral services for Steve Trigg a renowned cattleman who died in a hospital yesterday will be held at the chapel of N S Griggs Sons at 2 PM with Bishop F C Seaman and Rev Frederick A Foster officiating. Burial follows at Liano Cemetery. Pallbearers include Amarillo residents and out of town men from Dalhart Tucumcari. Trigg died from a fractured skull after a garage fall in Logan New Mexico December 1. He was 59. He came to the Panhandle in 1908 to buy horses for the British government during the Boer War and stayed.
