Carl W. Wickman repudiates a police confession tied to the recent death near Albuquerque of his fourth wife. Authorities say two of his other wives died mysteriously, with the fourth believed beaten to death and enough poison found in her body to cause death.
Col Charles A Lindbergh and Anne Morrow land in Natal after a 16 hour 10 minute over water flight from Bathurst Gambia. The longest leg of their air survey tour ends as Natal closes streets and scenes a festive reception. Anne Lindbergh becomes the first woman to fly the South Atlantic.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow at Mellefist Church Halfway for Dr D D Shropshire who died in an automobile accident on the Matador Paducah highway eight miles east of Matador. Lord Payne of Levelland is seriously injured in the wreck and in Paducah hospital with a badly broken leg.
Texas state officials announce the addition of ten thousand more CWA jobs, boosting the state total to 216,000. Relief Director Lawrence Westbrook confirms the expansion in Austin on December 6.

J. R. Readhimer a 57 year old Hale County farmer testified in his murder trial that he shot Stokes Campbell last April 6 because he believed his life was in danger Campbell a high school student is named as the father of a son born to Readhimer daughter Grace Readhimer said Campbell struck at him and grabbed him dazing him prompting him to fire several times The defense rested after five rebuttal witnesses.
Four more men were held for questioning in the lynching of Lloyd Warner, a negro youth, in St. Joseph Missouri. The detention brings to six the number held. names of the latest detainees were not published and no charges had been filed.
Illinois farmer C Worth Holmes of Joy Til won the title of corn king of the world at the International Livestock Exposition beating Indiana growers. Peter J Lux of Shelbyville Ind named reserve champion as the event continued its long tradition since 1919.
Mrs. Bolfvar EK Kemp widow of the late sixth district representative proposes to resign her unopposed Congress seat and trigger a single elimination primary for all candidates followed by a general election to restore peace in Louisiana's sixth district amid eight days of anti administration demonstrations. The move comes without prior advisory consensus from Senator Huey P. Long or Governor O K Allen who had supported the election.
In New Orleans during the 1932 general election, a prolonged fraud probe led to three convictions as investigators pursued widespread irregularities. Details of the case were continued on page 11.
Forecasts for Amarillo and West Texas indicate fair skies and rising temperatures on Thursday. The west region west of the 100th meridian is expected to see a mild warmup and drier conditions overall.
Washington the government moved to borrow nearly a billion dollars for one year at two and one quarter percent to cover notes due and interest on other obligations. It offered about 950 million dollars in certificates of indebtedness with maturing issues exchanged for new paper. The plan promises substantial interest savings and expands working capital, while noting large upcoming public works payments and a separate bond issue anticipated later.
The Texas and Pacific Sunshine Special train struck a stalled car at a grade crossing in Terrell Texas killing Mrs Otho Bryant 38 and her father F A Mallory 78. The car was dragged over 50 yards onto the engine. Bryant recently married and Mallory a retired schoolteacher. Funeral plans not yet set.
Washington reports rapid organization of a 350 million dollar corn hog reduction program. Six state committees named and allotment contracts approved to start issuing 1.5 million contracts within 10 days. Under the plan producers cut corn acres at least 20 percent and hog litters by 25 percent in the 1934 belt.
An oil explosion and fire destroyed a home eight miles northwest of Lancaster, killing four occupants. Mr and Mrs William Schmuck and their two sons Clyde 12 and Donald 19 were all fatally burned in the blaze reported at Silver Springs.
Foster Hamilton was convicted of murder and sentenced to three years imprisonment for the shooting of N B Butler Quanah roadhouse proprietor. His father L F Hamilton was acquitted on murder charges with the jury finding he fired in self defense after being wounded. The shooting occurred July 21 and the jury deliberated four hours.
Sioux City report states Armour & Co. Swift & Co. and the Cudahy Packing Company announced a 10 percent wage increase. Effective December 9, the unskilled male labor rate rises to 44 cents per hour from 40 cents, with adjustments to other male wage rates.
Washington reports show the first day after repeal saw officials and distillers blame high prices on distribution gaps rather than scarcity. The Alcohol Administration plans to curb costs by authorizing imports to aid domestic producers while guiding prices during the transition to legal sales. James M. Doran of the Distilled Spirits Association calls the issue one of smoothing distribution to restore competition and fair pricing.
Administration sources say four million unemployed will have jobs by December 15 under the Civil Works Administration. Hopkins reports two million placed by last Saturday, with three million expected by next Saturday and four million by the 15th.
In Austin on December 6 the Court of Criminal Appeals did not release any opinions today. Several court attaches were away on a deer hunt.
The state rested its direct case in the Woolley murder trial as prosecutors showed he began boarding at Dorothy Joynes home a week after his marriage to Mae Cantrell and started courting Joynes while still married. Dorothy Joynes, 20, was shot to death in their cottage. Woolley said the shooting was an accident during shotgun cleaning.
George N. Peck the farm administrator met with President Roosevelt after reportedly telling Secretary Wallace he would resign unless radical members of the Brain Trust in the Agriculture Department were dismissed. Peck denied discussing resignation as reporters observed.
President Roosevelt denounced lynching as a vile form of collective murder in a speech to the Federal Council of Churches of Christ in America. He indirectly rebuked California Gov. James Rolph over mob actions in San Jose and called for swift, just government protection of prisoners and public opinion to enforce justice.
Clarence Click, facing possible execution as Miss Mary McElroy's kidnapper, testifies that Walter McGee intimidated him with a gun and that McGee's former wife had "an invisible power" over Click. The defense notes McGee's threat as part of the case record. The state also presents Clicks's purported $30,000 ransom confession.
