Two other U S planes shot down near Hanoi with one Navy and one Air Force pilot killed. The 85 800 ton carrier logged 140 combat sorties, a record for a carrier off the South Viet Nam coast.
Mapstrike III brings more than 1,000 Air Force and Army personnel to Amarillo AFB for a week long joint training seminar led by Gen. Paul D. Adams. About 500 officers and 500 enlisted personnel join, with 30 general officers and units from XVIII Airborne, II Corps and multiple divisions.
